On June 24th, 2021, the Chairman of the Russian-Arab Business Council, Tatiana Gvilava took part in the 13th meeting of the Joint Russian-Egyptian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, which was held in the Volynskoe Congress Park.
At the opening of the plenary session, the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Russian part of the Commission Denis Manturov and the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Arab Republic of Egypt Nevin Gamea, who arrived in Russia on a working visit as part of a large delegation of representatives of state and private organizations, made introductory remarks.
The agenda of the 13th plenary session of the joint intergovernmental Russian-Egyptian Commission included discussion of a number of key issues of bilateral cooperation, such as: the creation of a Russian industrial zone in Egypt, the signing of a free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and the Arab Republic of Egypt, the supply of railway trains, the construction of the El-Dabaa nuclear power plant, as well as cooperation with a number of Russian companies in Egypt.
"Russia and Egypt are bound by strong traditions of friendship and mutually beneficial dialogue. This serves as a good basis for the progressive development of bilateral relations in all areas: from political and military cooperation, industrial and economic cooperation to the formation of stable humanitarian ties," Denis Manturov stressed.
On the margins of the meeting was discussed the organization of the 5th international exhibition "Arabia-EXPO", which was entrusted to the Russian side within the framework of the Agreement concluded between the League of Arab States and the Russian Foreign Ministry. The exhibition is held within the framework of the session of the Russian-Arab Business Council. To date, 12 such sessions have been held and the venue alternates every 2 years – in Russia and in the Middle East. The next event should be held in an Arab country. By the decision of the RABC and the Union of Arab Chambers, Cairo (Egypt) was chosen as the venue for these events.
The parties agreed to support the holding of the international exhibition "Arabia-EXPO" and the 13th session of the RABC in 2022 in Cairo, to ensure the presence of delegations from Russia and Egypt for meetings with business representatives of both countries, and to give relevant instructions to responsible persons.
At the end of the meeting, the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia recalled that Egypt received the status of a guest country at the 25th anniversary St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which will be held in 2022. Participation in this format will allow us to continue the comprehensive strengthening of the partnership between our countries.
Following the results of the 13th plenary session of the joint intergovernmental Russian-Egyptian Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical cooperation, the parties signed a protocol.
